Customer Review: THE ONLY MANAGEMENT BOOK YOU NEED TO READ
I started my management career in 1970 and was lucky to have attended a 2 day seminar in 1972 from William Oncken and I have read all his books. Once you read his work you quickly realize that you never have to read another management book again. His understanding of human nature and the real dynamics of organizations is profound. His work is as relavant now as it was 30 years ago. This is a must read for anyone trying to get ahead in corporate America.

Customer Review: Get More from your subordinates, give more to your manager
Funny, memorable and inspiring.

After 20 years in business I finally got it. And it came from this book. When I first became a supervisor my company provided me with a course in ‘monkey management’. I thought I understood it and my roll in it but I was only on the receiving end of the monkeys.

This book not only taught me how to be a professional manager, but also explained how to make my subordinates and myself ‘professional managees’. That’s whats not taught in so many management courses and seminars.

Don’t think because this book is out of print that it’s no longer relevant. I’ve been to seminars with Ken Blanchard, Tom Peters, et al. Oncken had them cold a long time ago.

“Maximize profits! Create shareholder wealth! These are the values driving many businesses today. Whipped into a frenzy by the single-minded pursuit of these goals, companies often end up sacrificing good judgment, value, and, ultimately, the very success they were striving to achieve.

This sad trend can be reversed with Value Driven Management. Instead of focusing solely on profits or shareholder wealth, value driven management is aimed at creating and sustaining value over time–by recognizing and using eight “”value drivers”" to guide the organization’s leadership, management, and decision-making processes.

Beneficial to both organizations as a whole and individuals, the innovative philosophy of Value Driven Management will help readers to:

* Realize that economic value is only one aspect of value, important but not the paramount objective

* Build an organization where the values of employees are in sync with organizational values

* Establish a value-driven culture throughout the organization

* Use value-driven management concepts to solve complex problems

* Manage their self-development

* Increase their job satisfaction, and more.”

Customer Review: Value Driven Management
I cannot rave enough about Pohlman’s VALUE DRIVEN MANAGEMENT book. I purchased this book as a requirement for both my first class in the MBA program and as a fundamental requirement of the premise of NSU’s business style. The book is filled with theory, the reason behind them and examples to understand their significance. Essentially, the fundamental factor is value. Determining the value drivers of your team to lead them to achieve, adding value to the organization, its customers, and other shareholders. This book does an excellent job of outlining the important elements of a management style that incorporates value at every step. This book is unlike other business books that just rattle off theories and throw in an example or two to reinforce the point. Rather, this book explains the theory, the underlying motivation behind the reasons why they are effective (the value drivers) and provides many examples offering different perspectives on the same theory. This helps the reader understand the concept and truly appreciate the need for this type of management. This should be on every manager’s reference list.

Customer Review: Value Driven Management
This book spells out the concepts of Value Driven Management. Chapter 7 does well with giving the reader a mindset on how to approach the concept. The book on a whole is a great piece of marketing for Dean Pohlman and his cohorts. You’ll find that he refers to them often within the text. Good Book.

The typical salesperson today is overwhelmed, trapped in a chaotic, pressure-filled environment with too much to do and not enough time to do it. Salespeople need help! This book provides it. Dave Kahle contends that smart time management is not about cramming more activity into each hour; but about achieving greater results in that hour. The content has been honed in hundreds of seminars and refined by the perceptions and experiences of thousands of salespeople. 10 Secrets of Time Management for Salespeople provides powerful, practical insights and ideas that really work, including hundreds of specific, practical, effective time management tips from dozens of salespeople who are on the “front lines” every day. The author, Dave Kahle, has been the number-one salesperson in the country for two different companies in two distinct industries. He’s presented seminars throughout the world, published more than 400 articles, and authored three books and 32 multimedia training programs.

Customer Review: Gave me motivation
very good book with practical advice that any salesperson can apply on a day to day basis.I really appreciated that this book is so down to earth and crystal clear.

Customer Review: Kahle’s Time Management Book
This book was recommended to us by a couple of professors at University of Toledo for its section on territory management. I had initially passed the book by, because the title didn’t grab me. The book is very good, even for experienced sales reps. I’d recommend it to any sales rep, novice or experienced.

Customer Review: Best Time Management Book Ever
Mark’s book is amazing, and following his principles has changed my life. He gives concrete ways to work -with- our natural resistance to whatever we might need to do.

For example, most of us use to-do lists. Mark recommends closed lists. Instead of our to-do list being a never-ending story – you finish what you’re doing.

His method of dealing with backlog is killer. No – it doesn’t involve throwing it out or ignoring it. Instead it makes the backlog entirely managable. Imagine coming back from a month long vacation and being relaxed about what you need to do?

A lot of people like David Allen’s “Getting Things Done” and I do too. But even David needs to be listening to Mark. Want proof? After he wrote Getting Things Done, he put out his newsletter VERY sporadically and always apologized for it. I’m sure he now has systems and people in place now to get the newsletter out the door – but if his system worked – he’d have it together. He didn’t.

The two books together are a good combination, but “Do It Tomorrow” definitely comes first – by far.

Customer Review: An absolutely terrific little book
1st edition (2006), 203 pages

Do It Tomorrow is only the fourth useful book on time management that I’ve come across (the other three are The 80/20 Principle by Richard Koch, The Effective Executive by Peter Drucker and The Management of Time by James T Mackay – the last two of which were published decades ago).

Most standard time management dogma seems to involve advice about how to cram ever more of what you are currently doing into your day. I have been deeply suspicious of this approach for a long time now. It never worked for me and I’ve not seen it working for other people either.

I’ll quote a paragraph from the beginning of chapter four (`The Problem with Time Management’) which gives a good flavour of Forster’s style and approach to his subject:

“The two things I want to examine are the concept of prioritising by importance and the frequently used tool of making a to-do list. Both of these tend to be the sacred cows of time management, and I believe both of them are fundamentally wrong. The reason is the same in both cases: they tend to make us do more of what gave us the problem in the first place.”

It is a great shame that it is so rare for an author to pay close attention to the evidence, even if it leads to conclusions totally opposite to conventional wisdom on the subject. Mark Forster is one of those authors and I strongly advise reading his terrific little book – you won’t be disappointed.

This book came fast, new conditon, what more can I ask for?
Still reading ths book from time to time, it is a good buy for sure.

Customer Review: The only time management book you need!
Throw out the time management books and replace it with this one. Ms. Morgenstern is easy to read and her book is a great reference to have on hand. My husband does everything on the computer and I am a paper freak, Julie addresses both types and explains which one will be better for you. The time map is awesome once you implement it. I can’t say enough about this book, but I know I need no other and they have all moved out of my house!
